GANG VS. CLUB

These two words generally share different point of views from many different people. Some people won’t agree on gangs because of the things they do and they will always think that. People won’t change their aspects about those two words.


Dictionary.com states that the meaning of the word gang means “a group or a band” and I think its similar to the meaningstate opinions like facts I got from wikipedia, “ a group of recurrently associating individuals with identifiable leadership and internal organizations.’’ I think the meaning that is more appropriate for the word gang is from wikipedia. Now a days in gangs there is identifiable leadership, ranks and internal organization, and it fits just right because if your from the ghetto or the streets somewhere around the world youll kind of get the picture of why the meaning of gang from wikipedia is acceptable and it fits better. The word club can either mean “ a heavy stick “ from thefreedictionary.com and “ association of two or more people united by a common interest or goal “ from wikipedia. I think the meaning of the word club fits the definition that i got from wikipedia. I have been to a couple of clubs in Hawaii and Alaska, it is a place where the association of way more then two people all united by a common interest or goal. I dont think that these two words have anything in common, gang is usually negative and clubs are more positive. You will have to try and not use the word gang in places where you know they are mostly common in.

There are many different ways where you can use the words gang and club. For gangs, you can be gang banging meaning you repping a set or click, where clubs you can have a club in your hand as a weapon and going to clubbing at the same time. The word gang originally meant “ an ongoing journey and throughout the years the word gang started to have other definitions on what it meant, and for club it originally meant “ a stick used as a weapon, to specific sense of bat used in games and it evolved into gather in a club like mass. “  These two words basically changed their definitions throughout that time. The meaning of gang changed a lot, some people turned it around and made the word mean a negative definition. The word club barely changed but its mostly positive.
When you refer to the word gang, you would usually think negative of it because of what you hear about on tv, or maybe even a real life experience. People see gangs as a threat, murderers, low lives and so on. When you think of club, you usually think of “clubs”, where you go and get crunk on stage and dance your life away. Its not really negative,its negative if people make it negative but other than that it’s not. Clubs aren’t usually associated with violence, that’s the difference between the two words, clubs are where people have fun unless one is drunk and can’t handle their liquor. Some may also think its stick or a golf club. Gangs are more concrete because when someone asks you or say something about the word gang, people usually picture a group of teenagers smoking and drinking, causing trouble or just a threat to the surroundings, where club is an abstract. Club to people now a days is clubbing, dancing getting a drunk and having fun with a lot of different people. The pictures I have on blogspot shows what people actually picture in their head when you mention the words “gang” or “club”.

The word gang and club has a lot of meanings to it, and they both had different meanings back then but it changed throughout the years. Gangs are more concrete because when you think of gang people usually see as a negative thing, its specifically told to people that gangs are negative where clubs are more abstract because people will think of a weapon like a golf club, clubbing and partying with a lot of people.

Journal 6 - 8 Go Ask Alice

Once they got home they put up the Christmas tree and started to decorate the house. Christmas is over and Alice helped take the tree down and she felt like and adult. While she was putting Christmas stuff away she found an old Christmas card from an old messed up friend's parents and thought how weired it would be if they were related to each other. Why did she just start to feel like an adult? "Kids stop by to watch out TV which we have in the show room or just to sit around and rap." I thought that it was pretty cool when the kids would just hangout their and have rap battles. After Christmas was over her parents are planing a New Years dinner for all of her dad's coworkers. Her grandma decided to make her broccoli and chicken casserole and yeast orange rolls. The night before the New Years dinner she is wishing she could just rip out all of the things that she had done wrong when she was younger. After the party was over she didn't realize that some of her father's friends were funny and interesting. Her father even told some stories about her when she was younger and she was impressed about what she had heard. Then when the party was over Alice, her family, and her friend all helped to straiten up the house. I's she is still addicted to the drugs that she has used when she was younger? "The day after Christmas is usually a let down, but this year I enjoyed helping mother and Gran clean up and no longer in the category with children, I am one of the adults!." It's funny just thinking about how teens want to run away from their parents then when they get out their in the real world they are wanting to go back to their parents.

Journal 4 & 5

On her first hour out she got a job at Mario Mellani's shop.  Mr. Mellani was like a father to Alice and he had already invited her and Chris to have dinner with him and his family. He would always come to work and shares his lunch with Alice everyday, it shows how nice of a man Mr. Mellani is. Alice tripped pit when she went to dinner with Mr. Mellani because their family were like Italian families, his wife was cooking food she hasn't had before and the kids crawled all over them including the big kids. The seventeen year old was going on a field trip and he kissed Mr. Mellani and hugged him. That was an loving experience for her and she felt a bit more lonely. After work the next day one of their friends Shelia invited them to her on Saturday night after work. They were kind of worried on what to wear and at the same time they didn't wanna spend any money on things they don't need to be spent on. They had fun at the party doing adult things, and at that party she smelt something and while she was trying to find out what it was, a joint was passed to her. They were soon invited to a next party at Shelia's house again. That night they were introduce to heroin by Shelia's ex boyfriend. After a while she realized that she was raped. Her and Chris left that place went looking for new jobs and be far away from Shelia. They sure did miss Mr. Mellani. They found an apartment close to Berkeley which was then a commercial district. Ever since then they been working twenty hours a day.

Journal 2 & 3 Go Ask Alice

Alice has been cooped up on Acids for a while and tonight was her last night that she wanted to trip on acid. That night she took but it took long to hit her, after a while it did and she started to wanna dance and make love. She lost her virginity that night to Bill, she wanted Roger to be her first but he was away visiting. She is now scared that she might be pregnant. Four days after she lost her virginity, her and her gran were outside in the garden and they heard tapping on the back gate and it was Roger and his parents, they heard about her Grandpas attack and they wanted to check up on him. Alice was very nervous and to her Roger was even looking better and better then before. They went inside and Roger asked her out but she had no reply. After that Roger tried to get a hold of her but she never wanted to talk to him. She was worried that he won't forgive her for what she did. She felt sick, her parents even noticed and they asked her whats wrong but she didn't say anything. She started taking her dads sleeping pills to sleep because she couldn't sleep of all the thinking and the worry that was happening. They took her to the doctors to get her checked out, she asked for tranquilizers in order for her to fall asleep. Roger is headed to military school a continent away from where she is at, she wrote him a ten page letter telling him that shell wait for him after he wrote her that he expects her to date and have fun.

Journal Entry #1 Go Ask Alice

In the beginning of this book Alice is scared and terrified that Roger hurt her and shes concerned that everyone in the school now knows what happened. Its her dad and her birthday on the same month, nothing much really went on. Later on that month they were moving and they moved into a big Spanish style house which their mom loved. Alice was excited for school again, she gets good grades. Roger tries to talk to her after a little more then three months after but Alice didn't bother but kept on walking. A boy named Scott Losse asked her to the movies and she lost ten pounds but wanting to drop more.

The difference between Gang and Clubs is that gang it has a more negative effect to the world, they cause drama towards the innocent, clubs is where people of age go in and have there fun getting crunk and drunk.
